2018 Season Preview

The 2018 Flagstaff Outlaws may represent the best roster in franchise history and they are poised for what could be a historic run.

The Outlaw franchise has won 100+ game twice (2009, 2014) but those records could be dwarfed by this roster, if it wasn’t for playing in an extremely tough Griffin Division.

“Well, this roster has been built over several years and we had to sit through last year and watch it all marinate to get to this point,” Outlaws GM Greg Newgard said. “Last year was hard to get through because we wanted to fast-forward to this point. But now that we are here, we’ve got to execute.”

The offense boasts five players that hit 30 homers or more, six players that posted over .500 slugging percentages in full-time work. The starting rotation will feature three arms with sub 3.00 CERAs and  WHIPs that hover between 1.00 and 1.10. The bullpen is not spectacular, but extremely solid and balanced. The bench will be good as well, with key bats ready to deliver in clutch situations.

“Our goal is to win every series,” Newgard said. “but we know we won’t win 120 games, so we’ll settle for never losing a series. That’s the mindset we have to have to win this division and place ourselves in a good spot for the playoff schedule.”
