2018 Outlaws picked to return to World Series

The BDBL Press released their annual season preview today and it that publication, the Flagstaff Outlaws were considered be the odds-on favorites to win the 2018 World Series.

I’ll go out on a limb and predict a BDBL championship for the Outlaws.

“Predictions are nice,” Outlaws GM Greg Newgard said. “We know what we’ve built and we think it’s something special, but we still have to go out and execute. We aren’t interested in paper trophies.”

The Flagstaff Outlaws haven’t won the Griffin Division since 2014, when they won 100 games, and haven’t been to the playoffs since 2016. But the work that management has done over the past year or so was noticed as well.

Let’s talk about the pitching. The acquisition of Sale was arguably the biggest story of the winter. The one-two punch of Sale and Greinke is difficult to match by any other team in the league.

The strengths of the team outlined the potent batting lineup, solid top of the rotation, and good bullpen.

Over in the Eck League, the St. Louis Apostles were tabbed as the favorites.
