Six Outlaws named to All-Star roster; Sale to start Midsummer Classic
The rosters were announced for the 2018 BDBL All-Star Game and the Flagstaff Outlaws landed six players on the roster, tying a franchise record that was set back in 2002.
Chris Sale (12-3) beat out rotation mates Zack Greinke (12-3) and Alex Wood (9-1) with 75% of the votes to be named as the starting pitcher for the Ozzie League.
“It’s awesome to see that the three guys that got votes were all Outlaws,” GM Greg Newgard commented. “It shows how great our starting pitching is. It’s easily our best rotation ever.”
Greinke and Wood were each named as substitutes along with closer Blake Parker and outfielders George Springer and Aaron Judge.
“Judge and Springer have been amazing for us, and each got a vote or two to start, but honestly, they each had someone else at their position that was a little bit better statistically. Hopefully they’ll get a PA or two to highlight their skills.”
